Original NCR18650GA
  • ✔ Laser-Etched QR Code & Text – Genuine Panasonic cells have a laser-etched QR code and serial number near the top. Fake batteries might have printed or missing codes.
  • ✔ Consistent Shrink-Wrap – The wrap should be clean, smooth, and without wrinkles. Fake cells often have sloppy wraps or incorrect colours.
  • ✔ Top Cap (Positive Terminal) – The metal top of a real NCR18650GA has three small arc-shaped indentations near the edges. Fakes may have incorrect indentations.
  • Verify the Labelling & Printing
  • ✔ Correct Model Name – It should be written as NCR18650GA with the correct font. If the text smudges when rubbed, it might be fake.
  • ✔ Date Code Accuracy – Check if the date code (e.g., 2Y20) follows Panasonic’s pattern (Year-Month-Day). Counterfeits often use random codes.
  • 3. Weight & Size Comparison
  • ✔ Genuine NCR18650GA weight: ~48.0g
  • ✔ Fake batteries are often lighter (around 42-45g) due to cheaper materials or smaller capacity.
  • 4. Capacity & Performance Test (Best method!)
  • ✔ Check the real capacity using a battery tester (like OPUS BT-C3100, Liitokala Lii-500, or a similar charger with a discharge test).
  • ✔ A real NCR18650GA should have ~3350-3450mAh capacity. Fake ones might show under 3000mAh.
  • 5. Buy from a Trusted Seller
  • ✔ Purchase from reputable battery vendors, not eBay, AliExpress, or unknown Amazon sellers. Many fakes are sold online.
  • ✔ Avoid re-wrapped or branded versions (unless from a verified brand like Orbtronic or Keeppower, which use genuine Panasonic cells).

Caution:
Li-ion batteries may explode if not handled, charged and discharged properly. NEVER SHORT CIRCUIT.
Users must understand the safe usage and handling of Li-ion batteries before using them.
We are NOT responsible for any damage caused by any other battery.
Important Information: DO NOT overcharge more than 4.2V and discharge or drain below 3V. Use only a quality slow charger for charging (0.5C to 1C is ideal) with an auto cut-off at 4.2V or lower. DO NOT use overnight charging. Once fully charged, they should be removed from the charger as soon as possible.
