The Panasonic PF was first introduced in 2013 as an upgrade to the Panasonic 18650PD. There are three main differences, a slight (20-30mAh) capacity increase, a wider top-cap for easier welds, and a CID (protection against over-charge) which has been tweaked to be more sensitive.
The 10A max. discharge current and 2900mAh still makes it a commendable cell for many custom battery pack applications.
